Fantasy Football: Week Nine Waiver Wire Options!

The carnage continues. If you Fantasy Football owners haven’t had to deal with an injury to one of your best players yet this season consider yourself darn lucky. The injuries have been horrific but we have week nine beginning Thursday so let’s see if we can’t find some help from the waiver wire.

Teams having a bye this week are the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans.

Quarterbacks

Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders is still available in over 60 percent of all Major Fantasy Football leagues and he has an interesting matchup this week with a Steelers pass defense allowing 269 passing yards a game. Carr has been hot throwing for 7 TD’s and 622 yards with zero interceptions over his past two games. Carr might be a good addition this week.

Jameis Winston of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is still available in over 80 percent of all Major Fantasy Football leagues and has a good match-up with the Giants this weekend. The Giants have the worst pass defense in the NFL and Winston has started to become more productive lately throwing for 4 touchdowns, 683 yards and zero interceptions over his last 3 games. Winston might also be a good addition this week.

Running Backs
Charles Sims of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is available in 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Football leagues and he has a good match-up this week against a Giants defense allowing 112 rushing yards per game. Sims hasn’t been spectacular but he has been solid running the ball as well as catching the football out of the backfield. There’s aren’t that may RB options left off of the waiver wire and Sims is worthy of  a look on Sunday.

DeAngelo Williams of the Pittsburgh Steelers is available in just over 30 percent of all Major Fantasy Football leagues and he has a terrific matchup with the second worst rushing defense of the Oakland Raiders. Now that LeVeon Bell is out Williams should see the bulk of the carries as well as receiving opportunities as well. For the season Williams is averaging almost 5 yards a carry and that should continue on Sunday against Pittsburgh.

Jeremy Langford of the Chicago Bears is available in over 90 percent of all Major Fantasy Football leagues and he has an interesting matchup this weekend with a Chargers rushing defense that has allowed 124 rushing yards a game. If Matt Forte doesn’t play on Sunday grab this kid off your waiver wire and reap the possible rewards.

Wide Receivers

Malcom Floyd of the San Diego Chargers is currently available in just over 60 percent of all Major Fantasy Football leagues and he is a good matchup this weekend with a Bears defense allowing 226 receiving yards per game. If the Chargers Keenan Allen can’t play this Sunday Floyd will be Philip Rivers #1 option and this season Floyd has seen 40 targets with 21 receptions for 409 yards and 3 touchdowns. Floyd might be a good option this weekend.

Tavon Austin of the St Louis Rams is available in just over 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Football leagues and he has a decent matchup with a Vikings team allowing 246 receiving yards per game. Austin has 3 touchdowns and 102 receiving yards over his last 2 games and might be a good pickup this weekend.

Ted Ginn Jr of the Carolina Panthers is available in just over 60 percent of Major Fantasy Football leagues and has a good matchup with a Packers defense allowing 269 receiving yards per game. Over the season Ginn has 3 touchdowns and 343 yards averaging 17.3 yards a catch. Ginn is a good deeper league option this weekend.
Tight Ends

Benjamin Watson of the New Orleans Saints is still available in 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Football leagues and for the life of me I can’t figure out why he doesn’t have a higher ownership. Over his last 3 games Watson has 3 touchdowns and 333 receiving yards. This week he should see plenty of targets as the Titans are allowing a paltry 215 receiving yards per game. Grab him this week.

Good luck this weekend Fantasy Football owner!
